Some People Are Easier to Wake up Than Others

    123
I was rather proud of myself today. I spoke to a woman who was curious about my t-shirt, it's the "This is my Glock" t-shirt. She saw the emblem on the front while ringing up a purchase I was making and asked what it meant (the "Gunny Approved" part). I showed her the back to explain and told her I work in a gun store. She talked about her brother who hunts a lot and then added, "Guns scare me a little. They just really scare me." I smiled and said to her, "Well, ma'am, my guns are sitting at home doing pretty much nothing right now. You don't need to be afraid of the gun, you just have to worry about the person holding it; if he's untrustworthy with a gun, he's just as untrustworthy without it. The gun doesn't make the man, he does."

She stared at me for a second and then said, "Ya know, I never thought about it like that before." She decided to come see me at the shop in two weeks to learn to shoot. She was interested before, but her fear kept her away. So here's hoping she drops by and starts learning a new skill.

    Thumbs up

That's the people we need to reach and help them out. Most just need a little direction and they get over these fears of guns. Good luck.

Nicely done! I think it is doubly effective to be able to talk "woman-to-woman" about something that is so often considered a guy thing.

Yeah, the sad thing is that I think many women don't shoot because it is too "manly." Most people I deal with daily think I'm a lesbian, and that's something I think many women can't handle. I couldn't care less, of course.

    +1000

To be able to talk about this highly emotional subject rationally and intelligently is a highly desirable combination, in ANY person. Good job, SuckLead!

The quote that Todd pulled out is the one that struck me too. I don't think you could have worded it better.

    Kudos.

    Thanks Girl!
Most of us "Guys" would not have been able to reach her in that way. We'd have most likely been ignored as MALES. Here's hoping she follows through!
