    less than leathal

hey a strange though just poped into my head, does anybody own a 'less then leathal' defence option? peperspray, taser, paintball gun with peperballs(essentialy painballs filled with pepperspray that explode on impact)

i'm thinking that firearms are the most foolproof of these options(due to the posibility of a tolerance build up to pepperspray and close range of a taser) but i was just wondering if anybody has both?

I've got pepper spray, but I stopped carrying it ages ago. I also have plastic shot for my shotgun.

I think most of us have made the choice that goes beyond what you are talking about here. If I were unable to use a gun for self defense I'd consider the other stuff as a poor second option. I think if you need to protect yourself at a level that requires an aid then the other stuff is kind of a half messure. I'm not pulling a gun till things are really bad and there is a very good chance it's gonna go bang, or if someone is in my house in the middle of the night. I'm not gonna mess around. If you got it out you better NEED it and be sure you are willing to us it. It ain't for scaring people with no will to use it. If the BG runs like hell in the other direction GREAT! but if he don't I want the threat neutralized as quickly as possible. I guess I'll have to deal with the mess once they haul the body away.

I carry pepper spray. It's an excellent alternative to hand-to-hand combatives when faced with a situation that doesn't require lethal force. In a class, I volunteered to take a spray in the face. While not 100% effective in all situations, the stuff is no joke.

I think carrying a less-than-lethal weapon to supplement your pistol is a very good idea. If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

I agree with Mike on this, I usually carry some form of Pepper, either on a key chain, small bottle in pocket, and my ASP in my car when it's not on my duty belt. I've been hit 5 times now with pepper spray and foam, its no joke. I don't ever want to shoot someone, and hope I go my entire life having not to use my firearm. I also own an assortment of knives depending which one I pick up off the dresser that day, I carry one every day.

I used to carry a flat ended kuboton. Never had a problem bringing it on commercial flights.

I've always thought pepper spray was a great option. I've owned two small bottles, and lost them both. Specifically for dogs or simply in a non-deadly threat situation. I'm 6'4" and 240 lbs. If an obviously unarmed 140 lb idiot threatens me, picks a fight, etc. I'd much rather pepper his ass with spray than bullets. In a hand to hand scenario, he may FIND my gun. It'll hold up a lot better in court too.

I just wish it were cooler here in FL... Pepper Spray, knife, gun, BUG, mags... Anyone know any Sherpas???

I carry spray in my Max Pack, but not on me. Not that I don't think it's a good idea to have it available, I just can't see myself walking around with a gun, phone, and spray (plus a spare mag eventually) on me. I think my wife would start calling me Bat Man if I had that many accessories hanging from my belt.

I use the ASP Palm Defender. It's a little cylinder that looks like a small Kubotan. It attaches to my keys, and allows me to hang the keys outside my pocket or belt line. Works great, and actually frees up space in my belt and pockets.

I'll have to look into that.

Hey Jeff, you are aiming at the wrong end.

I have looked at the Kimber life act (? the smaller one). Will probably get it, but need my non-res permit in MA (again) and CT first, as at least MA requires for pepper sprays. And I never know on any given day at which time I may be in one of those two neighboring states.
