    Smile "Going to Mesa, AZ this weekend

    My wife and I will be driving to Mesa, AZ to visit a sick friend this weekend.
    If I get any free time (doubtful!) I'll try to find a gun store to visit.

    We did this two weekends ago and I managed to find the Bass Pro Shop. I
    thought it was too big, too impersonal, carried too many non-gun items
    and some of the items were a bit overpriced. However, the fish tank and
    mounted animals were impressive!

    I would like to ask anyone who lives in the area where is a good gun shop
    to visit? Perhaps one a bit smaller and more dedicated to handguns than
    the Bass Pro Shop?

    I recently had a great buying experience at AJI in Apache Junction, located around Main and Ironwood on the north side of Main, which is just outside Mesa.

    Pistol Parlor offers friendly service, with a good selection of pistols and black rifles for a small shop. It's in Mesa at Southern and Country Club.

    If you can get down to Chandler, Guns Etc. recently moved into a better and larger building at Alma School and Warner. Nice young woman working behind the counter there.

    Bear Arms in Scottsdale is a bit of a hike from Mesa, at Scottsdale and Shea. The service is so-so these days, but the handgun selection is incredible.
