John's the man and tells it like it is. The trouble is you can't convince a far left wing wacko with the truth. Their minds are made up and they will not listen and facts mean nothing.

Thecomment posts are -enlightening. Of course most have heard the arguments presented (pro and con) ad nasium. And i am sure we will still be hearing them when i am dead and gone.
Hey GC advocates. Your wrong. (ok not if gc means hitting where you aimed.)
    A surprisingly good article.

    Good article. Thanks for posting.

I can't believe the total breakdown in logic that plagues our legislators. We don't need more gun control laws. We just need to enforce the laws already on the books and make criminals serve out their sentences:

Paris Hilton upset about being in jail? Suck it up. Jail is a bad place to be.
No more parole. Use savings to fund real LE.
Early release for overcrowding? Sorry, half rations today.
Early release for good behavior? How about life in prison for bad behavior?
Illegal aliens have a protest parade? Bring in the buses and deport em.

Start early and give real penalties to young offenders. Boot camp and no more Nintendo.

Not sure John Stossel is a conservative. I think he's more libertarian. Of course, Libertarians and libertarians (there's a difference) always support gun rights.

No, he is not conservative but he leans far more right these days than the days of his youth. At least he's learning and being open about the truth and as we know, the truth shall set you free.

    He's a self-identified Libertarian.

Clearly, he is not a conservative on issues of consensual sex and recreational drug use, which is where most libertarian types diverge from conservatism. (Well, that and some of the goofier Libertarians are still advocating open borders.)

It appears that libertarian-leaning people are leaving the GOP, because of the widening gap between what conservatives say about liberty, fiscal responsibility and big government, and what they actually do.

Thanks for the link mike. I love to learn

"But Stossel's pro-liberty viewpoint has won him few friends among the elite. In fact, Ralph Nader called Stossel "the most dishonest journalist I've ever encountered." Stossel takes such comments in stride. In Give Me a Break, he wryly wrote: "I was once a heroic consumer reporter. Now I'm a threat to journalism... I did a terrible thing. Instead of just applying my skepticism to business, I applied it to government."
Best endorsement ANYONE can get in my book is to be bashed by Nader.

I think many conservatives are leaving or thinking of leaving the GOP because it seems to be going more left as time passes. I know for me, a very conservative guy, I'm dissatisfied with the way the GOP is going. They need to get their man cards back and act like real conservatives instead of compromising on everything.
