That is turly sad when we lose a icon like Mr Chapman. May he rest in peace.
I just learned of Ray Chapman's passing earlier this month:
http://www.columbiatribune.com/2008/...206Obit005.asp
This was the man Jeff Cooper called "The Maestro," and who helped formulate and refine the Modern Technique of the Pistol, the system that still forms the basis of most advanced pistol training. He was there at the beginning with Cooper, Weaver, Plahn and Reed. He was the first world champion of practical pistol shooting, and was there at the Columbia Conference that gave birth to IPSC.
Sigh. Another great light has gone out.

Sad news indeed, Mike.
Ray Chapman was the real deal.
He will be missed.
Hat off, another great loss
Sad news to me; I hadn't yet heard.
I read of him, and a great deal of his stuff, in my formative gun-nut years.
He shall be missed.![]()
