    Hi From Apg/ea

    Hi all sorry for the long time off but im at Edgewood Aresenal which is a part of Aberdeen proving grounds in aberdeen maryland. im in AIT and loveing every min of it i like to tell you i qualifyed as an expert marksman shooting 38 out of 40. i got the chance to carry the M249 SAW for 2 weeks at our FOB exersize what a great weapon. well good to see the site is doing well and im looking forward to chating on my leave from the 16th to the 2nd i see yall later

    You can keep the 249, though.

    It's heavier than it needs to be, because it is an old design.

    It's pretty maintenance-intensive (though so is the M4).

    It works okay with belted ammo. Just okay. I have had the 249 malfunction on me more than the much-derided M4. Luckily I am not a 249 gunner and don't carry one operationally.

    It does not work at all with M16 magazines, even though it is supposed to.

    When fitted with the M145 optic, the optic sits about twelve miles above the bore, so you have no cheek weld.
