Time for another reminder becuase I seem to have to be editing a lot of posts lately.
• LINKS AND ADVERTISEMENTS: Due to abuses in the past, Links promoting other forums are not allowed. Links to other forums are only allowed when used in a thread or post relating to the subject at hand and is directed to a specific topic/link. Administrators and Moderators will still retain the right to remove any link interpreted as "Advertising or Promoting".
So, if you are in a thread here and you remember the same topic that came up on another forum, it's permitted to link to THAT SPECIFIC THREAD there. However, it is not permitted to remember that the topic came up and just provide a link to the home page of another forum. Same with when someone asks about a brand of gun, it is not permitted to give them a generic link to Glock Talk, XD Talk, etc.
In the past, I've just edited, but infractions will start being issued from now on.
So.....If a member comes in and askes where they can get additional information about a brand say....Bersa. And we know a forum that would provide a wealth of information to them on that brand or model. We can not post the forum address? or is it that we can not post a link?
But is it ok to PM them with the forum url?
Ok. Please don't take me wrong. I like this forum. But some times to give a member the best access to info to answer their questions it is easier for every one to just send them to another forum.
I remember when I first really started getting in to hand guns, I asked a million questions about this gun or that. People at the other forums wold just point me to a forum that they thought would provide me the most expansive resources for that gun.
This forum has loads of sub forums that cover a wide range of pistols etc, and that is great, but it is easier to redirect sometimes.
The whole point of the announcement was to remind all the members of the rule. Again, if any member feels that another forum can provide better information on a topic or if it's easier to redirect, then by all means, PM that link; just don't put a "generic" link out in the open forum.
We have had too many problems with people coming here with the single agenda of pushing other forums and therefore the rule was enacted. Prohibiting links to other forums stands and is not, nor will it be, up for debate.
