I like the magazine loading on the top of the upper and the ejection through the magazine well.

If you're debating which to get I'd assume the "AR57" upper and an AR15 lower would be much more economical over the PS90. But what does this have to do with FN other than the magazines?

People interested in the 5.7 will be looking in this area... That's why I posted it here.

The upper isn't available yet - it will be soon according to the website, though. Not sure what it will cost - Between and upper and lower, I imagine it will cost approx $800-$900.

Well, the rounds drop out of the lower's mag well. Its kinda kewl

I really like the looks of the FS2000 personally.

I don't know what you mean by AR15 purists. You really have to see the way some people trick them out. Some go way overboard. But that's really the beauty of the rifle.

Actually, there have been others discussing the guns and the 5.7 round on this site and many other gun sites. I do happen to like the PS90, though. Not really big into ARs - but this concept is kinda kewl. Like I said above - if U already had an AR and a PS90 (with the mags, then they would be another toy to get).

It's good info. Rhineland has some interesting conversions. But rechambering a Mauser for a pistol round is just wrong.

I think this gun is pretty cool, I like the idea. That said, I also think its hideous and I'd never ever get one. But the idea is pretty good, and I wouldn't knock anyone else for having one.

I also agree that the F2000 and FS2000 looks completely awesome, but its in 5.56 ... Held one at a gunshow the other weekend, it felt awesome. Can't remember the price though.. $2500 I think..

I think the AR57 is a great idea, especially if offered as a complete upper.
Can we assume it's a blowback design like the other pistol-cal AR uppers?

Personally I'd like having the ergonomics of the AR platform, complete with stock choices galore, mated with the cool P90 mags. The whole set-up would probably be relatively light and super soft-shooting. I'm not sure if I like the proto-type forend but it wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me so long as it was sturdy and had a good barrel.

Hmmm. AR ergonomics beat anything else on the market, so maybe it has some limited utility. If you want to spend a couple grand on a 50-round .22 Magnum, that is.

Ummm.. so it gets there quicker, but 25 FT.Lbs of energy aint enough to sneeze at,I have to agree with mike on this one its just a 22mag+P ??

Yeah, but you missed the fact they are acheiving the muzzle velocity out of a 10 inch barrel. Any comparisons of the FN to a .223 are not going to be much good. FN was going for a very specific design philosophy when they created this round and I believe they have acheived it. It is not meant to be high powered with an effective range (at best) of only 200m. I will also admit it looses some of it's effectiveness by not being full auto. Check out FN's promotional video here and you will see what they were going after when they designed it...

Scooter you missed my point, I was comparing a 10 inch barrel to a 24 inch barrel, Here are the statistics for a 16' stock ps90. 700 fps, and 100ft lbs difference.

Well you decide...compare the ballistics of them both and let me know what you decide

I like the concept, too; 50 round mags with nothing sticking/hanging out of the gun to snag on anything. Besides the low-end ballistics (compared to a stock AR's .223 round), the only two bad points I can see are:

- Ejection port (AR magwell) is her forward than on a PS90; I can see folks getting a hot casing laid into the crook of their elbow on occasion. That, folks, will suck.

- When my highly-tuned razor-sharp AR-trained mind hears the bolt lock back on an empty gun, and says "Reload!", I can see that fancy 50-shot mag getting crammed into the "new" ejection port the first 37 times. Or 137 times. Older dog, new-ish tricks, etc.


Still might have to have one, if the price is reasonable. Be great for bunny hunting.

Well, I really like my PS90 - The only use I see for this is as prev stated - IF you also had an AR too. U could get just this upper if U wanted, and have some fun. Otherwise, its probably not worth it.
