Friend of mine picked up a new one two weeks ago...I shot it a few times at the range...Awesome gun...He just called me and told me he has two large cracks in the frame...FN is happy to take care of him,but he's pretty disappointed, and quite apprehensive at this point...I was thinking about picking one up myself, but I'm a little put off myself...He did some research, and said there are quite a few turning up with this problem...Was wondering if any owners here could shed some light on this ?

I remember recently reading on FN Forum about several folks who thought they had cracked frames but it turned out to be "mold marks". There was a problem more than a year ago with a few with faulty fire control housings that cracked but far as I know, that's been taken care of. Haven't heard anything else about FNP cracked frames & I have 2. 3000+rds thru one and 2000+ thru other.

If it really is cracked and not anything like what forestranger noted it is some way out fluke of a situation. There are way too many of those weapons out there with many-many rounds put through them to see it as a big problem. I've not heard much of anything bad about the FNP's since they come out. I don't think it's enough to see the weapons as unreliable. But if your friend can't trust his anymore hew should get rid of it. A weapon you cannot trust 100% is useless to you.
