Wow, the human body can be a beautiful system. Looks like he healed up quite nicely.
I guess that is the downside to reloading. You really have to be careful with your builds.
It's the barrels that is the problem. They can't handle lead bullets. Glock,FN's and such use a Polygonal Rifling and lead will build up in the barrel. After awhile the preasure will increase and you have a Ka-BOOM. If you wish to shoot lead you need a after market barrel.:smt033
The Five Seven doesn't use polygon rifling, as far as I know. And, I haven't seen anyone loading 5.7 with pure lead bullets.
That was a Ka-Boom from over preasure but he also says he loads them all one at a time. It would be real hard to double charge loading like that. The spike in preasure had to come from somewhere? It had to be a double charge then. There's no other way to explain it.:smt017
There is info with specifics and from reloaders who load that particular round at the 2 links I posted above. Apparently - it is a tricky load to load.
And, when trimming the case, you can alter the specs VERY easily - enough to cause problems.

Well, unfortunately - this thread was thrown on every website - hi and far. Follow ups were not done on many sites afterwards - at least not by knowledgeable people.
Info has come out that the slide can actually move forward a small amt, yet the gun still isn't out of battery. There is other info out there that is helpful too. However, on many of the sites this was posted on - it basically had many replies by people just ripping down the gun.
It has come out other places that the original poster thru this up everywhere to try and get FN to replace his gun, afetr he had initially no luck.
They have decided to replace his gun, even though they had no obligation (ie - reloads). I think it would give them the oportunity to see more how this could have happened - and it is good will - as they guy put this EVERYWHERE.
Anyway -- this is the only Five seven kaboom I have ever heard of. And, as long as you use factory ammo - I don't see this happening.
Hall - over the years - I have seen kabooms of many guns WITH factory ammo of various brands. In those cases - the gun company and ammo company usually work together to replace the gun.
In this case, FN itself is the only maker of 5.7 at this time.
Anyway, I own a five seven, and I have zero worry about this issue at all.
