Amen to that, I've been thinking the exact same thing. Govenor Cuomo is an idiot, this assualt weapon, high capacity argument is BS. Yes they want your guns. I own a Ar and AK and they are defensive or hunting weapons not assault weapons. They have never jumped out of the closet and assaulted anyone. Assault is an action(verb), and should not be implied as a definition of a rifle(noun). In essense the argument of Cuomo is we don't need a 2nd amendment, just turn in your so called assault rifles and we the government will dictate to the citizens what firearms they need for self defense and hunting. Cuomo is a traitor to the Constitution and for a politician he should well know the 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting game, it's major premise is for the defense against foreign invaders, and mainly a defense against a domestic tryannical government. Which in my opinion is getting pretty darn close. Thomas Jefferson, please pray for us. Getting back to the subject, I have renewed my NRA membership for 3 years and have contacted all my representatives both at the state and federal level. Let's beat them back folks!

Join groups, send letters, make phone calls, talk to people about it and buy guns, buy guns, borrow money and BUY MORE GUNS!!! Seriously though, we are about to be seriously challenged by new laws and executive orders. Stand by.

I constantly communicate my views to my elected officials. I'm a Life Member of the NRA, and have sponsored 35 new Life Members under the "Sponsored Life Memberships for $300" promotion, in the last two weeks from different firearms-related forums... Four folks from this forum. That's $10,500 for the NRA.

and... I've bought three new handguns in the last month.

I agree with the OP and have been as frustrated reading some of OUR posts as I am reading about what the liberals and media are trying to do to take away more of our fundamental rights. I have read so many messages from people saying they've already got what they need, or they will buy what they need before the laws change, rather than understanding that we can't let the laws change! Infuriating!

I personally have had conversations daily with people I know, and even people I don't know, to make sure they understand what is truly at stake here, not just Gun Control, but Government Control. It doesn't stop with Guns!

I have sent numerous letters to government officials:

State Congress
State Senate
US Congressmen
US Senators
VP Biden
President Obama

This is a serious issue, not just because of possible limitations on Guns, but limitations on our that are guaranteed by the Constitution. Rights, not privileges. There is a big difference. These rights are what makes the USA the USA, and not some other country.

Apathy will have a huge negative impact on the outcome of this challenge, similar to voter apathy. People think "my vote doesn't really matter because there are millions of votes", and they think "my letter doesn't matter", but if enough people think that way, we get what we get, whether it be in our elected leaders, or in the controls pushed upon us, like gun control. (I still can't believe the election outcome after such a miserable record of poor leadership - I would have been fired if I did so poorly in my job)

So read these posts to get inspired, not just informed, and DO SOMETHING about it!

Most importantly IMO is to keep our cool. Call your representatives and help the NRA help us. I think we can win, but it is an uphill battle.

1) Paying closer attention to where I buy gun and accessories from, one of the best ways to create change in the country is to do it so these anti-gun companies LOSE money over their decisions

2) Very vocal online and offline about the subject, so many timid folks prefer just to nod their heads whilst staying silent when a friend or someone they know starts rambling on about how we all have automatic M16s. I've signed many online petitions.

Theres alot more on my to-do list, senior year of college kicking my ass. -> Kudos to the writing letters and calling senators/ representatives def on the list to do as well as joining the NRA

For all of the OTHER States, "Beware", NYS gives your local and Federal Legislature something to aim for. Don't mistake for one moment, that someone in your state or the WH is reading this new law and how they might apply it to your state.

It's time the NRA, Second Amendment organizations start the ball rolling on taking this up through the Court System to SCOTUS. Lets put the 2nd Amendment and the word "Infringed" on trial. Maybe the majority might see through the Courts how their precious 1st Amendment could be "Infringed" upon as well.

You are going to need "BIG" monies to take this through the system and that is where we can do the most good. We are past the local S*"t laws and we should be concentrating on defining our Bill of Rights for everyone. The state and Federal level legislation has made a mockery of the Bill of Rights. Even our US Gen Attorney has out right mocked the 2nd Amendment. What Amendment will be next?

I for one would donate heavily to an organization that took up this call to arms. But I would drop him in a second if it played with the funds or did not stay the course.
