Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire - Documentary
I'm new to your board so I hope you don't mind me introducing myself to you in this way.
My partner and I are Emmy award winning producers from Northern California. Two years ago we started working on a film about street gangs invading rural California. Due to my repeated contact with gang members, it was recommend that I obtain a CCW permit - which I did. The process led to me learn about the backward gun laws of California compared to the rest of the Union. Through research I discovered that there has never been a positive documentary about the 2nd Amendment and gun ownership in America.
Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire will be such a film. Supported by the CalGuns Foundation and Second Amendment Foundation, this PTV/PBS documentary will look at how California is the front line in gun control battle. The film will look at the current assault weapon ban proposals in California and Washington, DC, as well as, CCW permitting across the USA.

If you have any ideas, suggestions or views you would like to share regarding this project, please post them, or IM me.
We thank you.
Well, I'd like to see it. Sounds interesting.
Thanks, berettatoter - we're putting all our efforts into this one, and the input from all of you helps - ideas, suggestions, views, whatever folks want to share about the production of this doc; its still early in the process.
One of the most important parts of the conversation that is sometimes left out is explaining why citizens should be able to own weapons in the first place. A brief history lesson on what happens to an unarmed public would help the overall message.
Agreed, SMann. We are including this very important point in the documentary. We think it will encourage those who oppose guns to open their minds on what happens to a defenseless citizenry.
It would be nice if you could add something about Illinois being the last state to not allow any kind of carry. Also, Chicago having the toughest gun regulations in the country, yet becoming the murder capitol of the nation.
The concept of government deciding whether or not citizens should own firearms is foreign to the founding and design of this nation. Actually, the Founders were of the mind that it is the People who should not only decide, but remain ever vigilant as to the question of the government, and its agencies, should be armed. The great desire was that the People be armed in excess of the government so that they might serve as a constant reminder that the power and authority of government comes from the People and because We are the supreme sovereign in this country, it is We who shall decide whether or not government may be armed.
OK, guys, I just went to Kickstarter, and pledged $50.00 toward the completion of the film.
How 'bout the rest of you?
