I will withhold judgement till all the facts are out.
"There was no sign that the shooter and other officers at the scene mishandled the situation," police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.
"The tragedy here of course was that Mr. Cuevas was shot, but I see nothing wrong with the procedure," he said.
SERIOUSLY???? nothing wrong with the procedure? how about the dead crime victim?
NY police accidentally shoot shop worker to death - Yahoo! News
I will withhold judgement till all the facts are out.
What happened to the video? I tried to watch it but it was gone.![]()
It's no secret the NYPD are dangerous to anyone when you put a gun in their hand.Considering the political environment there this doesn't surprise me at all.Obama must be pissed, now he has competition on suppression and socialist takeover.
Seems that lately, more people are being shot by the police, than by the bad guys..................how are those gun laws workin for you Yorkers?
Robber : "Gimme all your money #$% %^&* or i will call the police!!!"
Victim : " Please dont do that! I will cooperate ! No one has to die here today!"
Robber : Hurry the %$^& up! Dont make me dial 911!!!!"
Until all the facts are known, the point is moot.
what other facts do you need?
the guy who was shot was the VICTIM. (said the commissioner)
the cop shot him accidently.(said the commissioner)
he died. (said the commissioner)
the police commissioner doesnt think there was anything wrong with procedure. (said the commissioner)
using the police commissioner own statement as a collection of facts presented to the public, i contend that the facts are known and i still stand by my opinion that the police should not shoot innocent bystanders or crime victims. its bad procedure anywhere but in NYC
how do you accidentally shoot someone while following procedure?
Damn shame...
Some of the facts might make the situation a bit clearer ie: was the victim running toward the cop with a handgun ?(highly doubtful) since he was the victim. Details on what went wrong might make this happening again in the future less likely if information was used in training and retraining........JJ
Video is still working
I just watched it.

Hhmm... I must be lookin at the wrong one. Eh well..
No cover up really. It's more like, "Dude, $*it happens. Our Bad."
I've always assumed that NYPD had those ridiculous triggers on their Glocks to prevent just such incidents/accidents. Maybe they need to go heavier?
the origins of the NY trigger for the glocks was to prevent the NYPD from CONTINUING to shoot themselves while drawing their weapons..... for gods sake do not train the police to keep the finger off the trigger, just make the trigger harder to pull! ..... this is and always has been horrible procedure
I don't think making the triggers harder to pull will help them to be safer, rather it will make it harder for them to hit their target. They already have enough trouble with that as it is.
IMHO, this is an incident of piss-poor trigger discipline gone bad. The cop is looking around, not knowing what the hell is going on; the last place he should have his finger is on the trigger.
I have a NY#1 trigger on my Glock G23. I can keep a whole magazine in a 5" circle, firing "Mad Dog Crazy" fast at 15 yards. Do you want to walk out into the street with me at high noon? The fact that the NYPD carry Glocks had nothing to do with this. Somebody fired at the wrong person and hit him, for whatever reason. However, keep in mind that this was a real incident, not IPSC, and there was probably a whole lot of confusion. There is nowhere in NYC that you don't have a lot of people on the scene and they usually go totally insane when the SHTF. I too think we neeed to know the whole situation before being so quick to judge. Keep the politics out of this one and judge the facts , when available.
I agree with wjh2657 .
How some can post the comments that have been posted w/o knowing the complete story I don't agree with.
But it happens all the time.

the complete story is here, see post #11..... the video is here also..... like it or not, this happened just the way it shows on the video, just the way the police said and the commissioner STILL says the procedure was good
this IS a political story because of the mayors stance on gun control and his history of blaming outside forces on the crime problems in the city.
