Pseudo-socialism is alive and well in Seattle's City Council.
You wouldn't believe the laws that they've passed...and that the Mayor has signed.

For example, Seattle's city government wants to get the many existing homeless encampments off of unused private, city, and county property.
So they passed a law providing free city-council-financed housing for all of those homeless people.
From where is the money to come, to pay for all of this free housing?
They also passed a law requiring Seattle homeowners to pay a special, extra property tax, specifically to pay for all that free housing.

And here's the kicker: When asked, the vast majority of those homeless people specifically stated that they refused to live in the free, city-provided housing.
Why? The rules were too restrictive: If you're not married, you can't live together. No pets. No drugs. You gotta help keep the place clean. (And there's more.)

Now then: Do you want to buy a home in Seattle?
Don't forget: The city council also wants Seattle residents to pay an annual income tax. It will be the only income tax in the entire State of Washington.

30+ years ago Chicago tried the same thing and Paul Harvey did one of his commentary's on it and the gist of it was that the homeless chose liberty over security. The liberty to live their lives as they wanted over the security of having housing provided for them and the rules that rent with it telling them how they should live.

The basic problem we have in our society is that the liberals believe that they know what is best for all, and they're hell bent on making us all do it, instead of just leaving people the hell alone.

I don't understand who the people are who vote these council members in. (It's pretty clear that some folks aren't voting.)

It is the liberal "gimme" crowd that get out and vote in local elections.
