Instructors in CT?
I'm looking for beginners lessons in practical shooting in CT. There's a practical pistol class at my local range, but they won't let me go through the class with my 38 snub, which is what I can carry. I happen to like my S&W M36, and am not ready to shell out $500 on a new gun right now.
Is there anyone in CT who offers basic lessons in practical shooting? I'd like to get some good habits before I solidify bad ones.
When I finally pick up a 6+ semi-auto, I'll join the PPC class.

If you go looking for someone teaching "practical shooting," you'll find people who teach you how to win at IPSC and IDPA. It sounds more like you need someone to teach you defensive shooting, which is really the only use for a snubby. Try www.defenseassociates.com. These guys are fantastic, especially Frank Cornwall.

defensive shooting
Yes, you are correct. That is much more accurate for what I'm looking to learn. IPSC and IDPA definitely interest me (competition is fun) but self-defense is my top priority.
Thanks for the link.

Where abouts are you in CT?
Bridgeport shooting range does alot of classes. Im almost positive they offer a snubnose specific class. Try giving them a call. If I remember, Ill ask them about it tonight when I go down there.
Heres their site:

They do have a snub nose class. The employee there was unsure when the next class would be held though. You'd have to call and speak to Jamie. She can tell you everything you need to know.

Awesome. The Defensive Associates looks like top notch training and not too far away. Bridgeport is also pretty convenient, especially if they do snub-only training. It's a pleasant surprise to have a choice of quality training options in our tiny state.

I dont have a snub nose but i'd be interested in taking a class with you guys if you end up going.

I'll post up here when I sign up for a class.

If things haven't changed too much since I left in 2003, George Emanuel is the head NRA Training Counselor in CT. He should be able to reach any of the NRA Instructors in the state. George's contact info is here: http://www.nrainstructor.com/Other%20Training.htm.
