Hey everyone. My dad want's a .357 for the marksmanship competitions police deptartments have. He's an excellent shot with a 9mm glock and has taken down 2nd place in the regional and DC events consistently. He saw some guys during the last competition using .357's and he wan't to move on up. I want to get him one but really need some good advice on .357 competition guns. Relatively reasonably priced as well please. Im still in college so I'm kinda broke. Thanks.
So I guess that rules out a S&W Performance Center 627 V-Comp...
Any good S&W or Ruger Late Model .357... with a little work...

Probably the most potentially accurate .357 would be a TC contender. It's a single shot break action handgun. The lack of cylinder gap and forcing cone alone will get the bullet off to a better start than a revolver.
Of course it's not nearly as cool as a revolver, IMO. They're kind of goofy-looking:

Are you talking about formal PPC competition?
That's it!!! He used to do regional peace officer competitions and he was real good so now he's getting into PPC. He went there a few months ago I think and they gave him shitty ass .357, the hammer was loose and 5 rounds didn't fire. They gave him a second gun and the trigger was sticky. He told me about it this weekend and I was like you need your own piece. So yea.Quote:

I agree with Mr. Barham. I have a 6" 686, and it shoots clover leafs. I'm a green horn too. They are nice pistols.:smt023
