Nobody?

Well, I just recently graduated from the University of Iowa and am currently back home in the Chicagoland area. I will be checking out the Denver and Fort Collins areas to possibly move there and search out employment (I don't want to live/work in Chicagoland). I've been doing research and have decided that these seem like two very good candidates for myself. Anyways, I leave Chicago and fly into Dever on August 19th (Tuesday) and will be staying in the area until the 28th (9 nights). So, I was just wondering if there is anyone in that area that could help me get the best out of the experience and get the best feel for the area within those 9 nights. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I actually live in Fort Collins now.I finally got out of the communist state of Illinois.
That's about 2 hours from me, so I doubt I'd go there, unless I was out that way for some reason. If I ever do make it there, I will surely let you know.Originally Posted by JustRick

VERY old thread I know.....but I just joined this site and I am in Denver!
Yes, Very old. I'm in the Centennial / Aurora area, right near Smoky Hill Road and E470. Still trying to get one of my range buddies or hiking companions to go exploring and try to find that whimsical Pawnee Grasslands shooting mecca I've heard so much about. (I found the reference on the road map and it's huge but it doesn't point out where the impromptu ranges actually are) I'm from Illinois myself and back home you could only get 5 or six shots off outdoors before someone called the police on you. I am not used to pulling a trigger where the sound doesnt bounce back off 4 brick walls. Still I'm not sure it would be worth the hour drive, providing I can find the right windmill to turn at, just to put some holes in the odd water filled milk carton. I'll get there someday, probably stumble on it while tying to find a back road into Sterling or somewhere.Till then I'll try to be satisfied with Cherry Creek range. Still havent been there either. I gotta get out more!
