Weight of Posted Signs
Just got done reading the first page of the thread linked below.
There were a few replies mentioning the legality, or lack thereof, of 'No Weapons' signs posted by businesses. I've seen a lot of them in Glendale and Peoria, usually around the parameter of strip malls, but none here in central Phoenix.
Can somebody point me to the statute regarding posted signs in Arizona? I'm assuming it's regulated by the State rather than the City.
Scroll to the very last question.
You guys are fortunate in the fact that even though a business is posted, they have to ask you to leave first. Here, if they are posted and you go in, they can simply call the cops and you're looking at a criminal trespass charge.
one other question:
The local coffee shop... owner's a friend of mine and I know that he keeps a revolver under the counter and a glock in the safe. He doesn't have a problem with me carrying, I assume as it has yet to be an issue, but if an employee has a problem... how does that work? Can I not carry in at all? Can I not carry only on her shift? Does it matter, if the owner's okay with it?
I've yet to have a problem, but I prefer to know the law rather than find out after breaking it.
If the store isn't posted and the owner doesn't care if you carry, I don't see how a mere employee could be a legal problem. But I am not an attorney.
Go here and get the Arizona book: http://www.gunlaws.com/books.htm. I know Alan Korwin, and he is a great guy.
