February 2008 Challenge - Don't worry; be happy!

In the movie "Lethal Weapon" (1987), the Mel Gibson character (Riggs) blasts rapid fire on a target on the shooting range. When he reels in the target, the bullet holes are in the design of a smiley face.

Now, we know that's impossible to do fast, but it's only a movie, so we'll overlook it.

The challenge: Put up a plain old 8 1/2 x 11 paper at 7 yards. Blank page. "Draw" a smiley face with bullet holes -- freehand.

No time limit, no required minimum or maximum number of shots. Just make a smiley face. Express your artistic side through your pistol.

Let's see 'em, gang! :-)

Oh my goodness. I had no idea how hard this would be. This is really humiliating.

First try - Poor guy needs some plastic surgery to fix that deformed mouth.

Third try - not bad, but I have to say, that Mel Gibson must be a heck of a shot to do it at high speed. This one took about 5 minutes, and I was really sweating that last shot.

Good point. The bullet is likely to freeze halfway down the barrel!
